IBERDROLA Ingeniería y Construcción, a world leader that continues to surge ahead
IBERDROLA Engineering and Construction is one of the principal energy engineering companies in the world with projects in more than 30 countries, branches and subsidiaries in 24 other countries and a portfolio of projects that at the end of 2009 surpassed 2.5 billion Euros with an inter-annual growth of 10%. Its increased activity in recent years is the result of the Company's change in strategy, begun in 2004 when it directed its activity at engineering and construction, principally of electric installations for generation, distribution and control. Likewise, it executes important projects throughout the world in the nuclear and renewable energies sectors with a high component of R&D.
Other changes established in the Company's strategy were the internationalization of its activity and the awarding of contracts with clients from outside the IBERDROLA Group. At the end of 2009, 87% of the Company portfolio was located abroad and 84% of its sales are for clients outside the IBERDROLA Group. This strategy has meant that the Company production in the last five years has increased 4.3 times and its portfolio of projects has almost quadrupled.
The Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of IBERDROLA, one of the principal energy groups in the world with a presence in more than 40 countries, with an installed capacity of more than 43,000 MW and more than 28 million clients.
