IBERDROLA Ingeniería y Construcción, a world leader that continues to surge ahead
IBERDROLA Ingeniería y Construcción is one of the world's leading energy engineering companies, with projects in over 25 countries, subsidiaries and branches in another 22 and a project portfolio valued at over 2.3 billion euro at the end of 2008. The Company's increased activity in recent years is the result of a shift in its strategy, which began in 2004, when it targeted its activity at engineering and construction, primarily of power generation, distribution and control facilities. It is also heavily involved in large nuclear energy and renewable energy projects.
Other changes to the Company's strategy involved the international expansion of its activities and the awarding of contracts to customers outside the IBERDROLA Group. By the end of 2008, 81% of the Company's portfolio was located abroad and 80% of its sales were to customers outside the IBERDROLA Group. This strategy has led to the Company's production increasing by a factor of 4.5 in the last five years, while its project portfolio has almost quadrupled over the same period.
The Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of IBERDROLA, one of the world's leading energy groups, present in over 40 countries, with an installed power output of 42,000 MW and over 27 million customers.
