Our History
IBERDROLA Engineering & Construction was founded towards the end of 1994, as a result of integrating the engineering divisions and assets of IBERDROLA and the companies UITESA (Technological Specialties) and IBERSAIC (Environment), with the participation of Gibss y Hill Española (GHESA) and Empresarios Agrupados. This led to the creation of a highly-qualified and experienced team covering all fields of engineering and construction, and able to handle a project's full life cycle, from its basic conceptual design through to its material execution, and including turnkey supply.
The Company was conceived for the purpose of making the technical capacity developed for IBERDROLA's projects and installations available to the market, in addition to lending service to the electricity company itself. From the very beginning, IBERDROLA Engineering & Construction has been the hub of the Group's engineering and construction business.
When it was founded, IBERDROLA Engineering & Construction had a staff of approximately 200, with a business turnover of approximately 1 billion pesetas in its first year. The company has posted profits ever since.
IBERDROLA Engineering & Construction is the current leader in power generation, transmission, distribution and control facilities. With a turnover of 1.512 billion Euro, IBERDROLA Engineering & Construction is currently Spain's largest engineering company thanks to the efforts of its team of over 2,400 personnel.
Since 21 July 2005, our name "IBERDROLA Engineering & Consulting" made way for the current "IBERDROLA Engineering & Construction S.A.U.", a name that reflects the change in focus of the Company's business, now entirely aimed at engineering and construction.
